Summary

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times . . .
Meanie got off to a strong start, with a second in the first race. The second race began, we had a perfect start, then seconds later - SNAP - main halyard breaks, day over. Our hero Neil spent two hours up the mast and was finally able to "get it in" so we could race on Sunday, maybe act as a spoiler and regain some pride. First race Sunday, first place. Second race, we were doing nicely, had a very exciting upwind rounding where Steve demonstrated his ability at avoiding collisions (barely), rounded the downwind mark, hoisted the jib, when - SNAP - jib halyard broke. At that point, we called it a day (it was the last race). Neil went up the mast again, sore nads and all, and quickly fixed it, so we're ready for Wednesday . . . we think. Notwithstanding our equipment issues, we were not DFL for the regatta. And we managed to have a good time - weather was better than predicted (no racing in the rain) and we were happy with the races we managed to finish. Thanks to Steve Lopez for coming up Sunday and adding excitement to our lives.
